Senator Kerry to Speak on Climate Change
ASP Board Member Senator John Kerry will speak to international leaders via video link during a three day conference in New Dehli regarding sustainable development. According to an article in AFP, much of the focus of the talks will be on the United State and the Obama Administration’s new climate change policies and will have an audience that includes United Naations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon stated today that “failure to combat climate change will increase poverty and hardship. It will destabilise economies, breed insecurity in many countries and undermine our goals for sustainable development.”
As chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Kerry has been vocal on the issue of climate change, stating that “climate change will be increasingly central to our foreign policy.” We have explored this issue in a prior post as well.
