Pamela Isom is CEO and Founder of IsAdvice & Consulting LLC. She is a strategic advisor who leads organizations through AI innovations, compliance, policy, privacy, data protection, and data integrity.

Pamela currently serves as Principal Investigator for an AI-powered microgrids research and development effort supported by the U.S. Department of Energy. The initiative focuses on resilient and intelligent energy infrastructure, leveraging scientific discovery and emerging AI and data practices to address real-time mission challenges. She is also an instructor for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Training Centers, where she teaches leaders how to build trusted and accountable AI innovation, strategy, and governance programs. She is a frequent speaker and publisher on AI security, cybersecurity, and critical infrastructure resilience, and host of the podcast AI or Not.

In 2025, her company was selected to participate in the Robust AI Test and Evaluation (RAITE) effort led by NAVSEA, where she contributed on both red and purple teams focused on adversarial, resilience, and physical testing of AI systems in defense contexts.

Pamela is former U.S. Department of Energy Senior Executive and Director of Artificial Intelligence and Technology (2018–2022). She also served as Deputy Chief Information Officer and Chief Data Officer, where she led AI, data, geospatial, and digital innovation portfolios. Her work included national security implications of AI and emerging technology risk, including adversarial testing of AI systems in critical infrastructure contexts.

From 2015–2018, she was Senior Executive Director of Application Engineering & Development at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where she led modernization and security of the nation’s intellectual property systems.

From 1990–2014, she held senior leadership roles at Dell Technologies, IBM, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (formerly EDS), leading large-scale digital transformation, governance, and enterprise modernization across banking, finance, telecommunications, manufacturing, and e-commerce industries.

Pamela’s leadership has resulted in numerous national and industry recognitions. In June 2023, she was invited by the White House National Space Council to attend the Blacks in Space commemoration ceremony, and she is a two-time recipient of the Fed100 Award.

She serves as a Strategic Advisor to Government Executives (SAGE) for the Partnership for Public Service and was appointed in 2025 to the Advisory Board of Germanna Community College. She is a ForHumanity™ Certified Auditor in AI, algorithmic, and autonomous systems, with specialization in multidisciplinary assurance and evaluation. Pamela is also passionate about workforce development and youth education.
