Courtney McCreesh currently works with the Department of Defense (DoD) to execute an immersive 7-week pre-deployment training program for DoD civilians to serve their country in Afghanistan. The program is designed to forge long-term relationships that strengthen Afghanistan’s security institutions. Prior to this position, in 2015, she supported the Pentagon’s “Force of the Future” Initiative.

She formerly worked at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP), a quasi-governmental organization that provides analysis, education, and resources to those working in conflict zones. At USIP, she researched and edited a book, Strategic Advising, which lays out the background and rationale for defense institution building programs.

Ms. McCreesh received a Master of Science from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service in 2009, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia in 2003.

Courtney is married to Patrick McCreesh and they have three young daughters.
