Off-the-Record Event Invite:

For years, leaders from government and various industries have touted the ability of the internet and social media to reach new audiences. But more recently, we have seen the internet used as a tool of division, propaganda, and misinformation. Today’s reality demands that we refocus the power of the internet into a tool for bridging divides, rather than creating chasms. We must think of new and innovative ways to harness the reach of internet-based tools to create cooperation and understanding. One option: the sharing economy.

Please join the American Security Project for a moderated off-the-record discussion with Airbnb on its ability to bring the people from the United States and China closer together. By literally closing the “last three feet” of people-to-people relationships in their own homes, Airbnb holds a unique ability to break down barriers, clear up misinformation, and help the people of our countries understand each other a little bit better.
