American Security Project Welcomes General Lori J. Robinson, Ivan A. Schlager, and Major General William J. Walker to Its Board of Directors
Washington, D.C. — The American Security Project (ASP) is proud to announce the appointment of three distinguished leaders to its Board of Directors: General Lori J. Robinson, USAF (Ret.), Ivan A. Schlager, P.C., and Major General William J. Walker, USA (Ret.). Their decades of service and expertise in national security, defense, and global risk will further strengthen ASP’s mission to advance bipartisan national security policy.
General Lori J. Robinson, USAF (Ret.)
General Lori J. Robinson retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2018 after a trailblazing 37-year career, culminating in her historic role as Commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM), the first woman to lead a U.S. combatant command. She previously commanded United States Air Forces Pacific, responsible for 45,000 Airmen across the Indo-Pacific. General Robinson also served in senior positions on the Joint Staff and on Capitol Hill as Director of Air Force Legislative Liaison. She is a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution and has been recognized as one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. She holds a Master of Arts in Education Leadership and Management from Troy State University and a Master of National Security and Strategic Studies from the College of Naval Command and Staff at the Naval War College.
Ivan A. Schlager, P.C.
Ivan Schlager is a nationally recognized authority on national security law and cross-border investment, serving in the Washington, D.C. office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. A leading expert on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), he advises defense, telecom, technology, private equity, and global industry clients on complex regulatory matters. Chambers Global has given him a Band 1 rating in International Trade: CFIUS Experts for five consecutive years. Prior to joining Kirkland, he led the national security practice at Skadden and previously served as chief counsel and staff director for the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. His work has earned numerous honors, including the American Lawyer Transatlantic Legal Award and the Burton Award for legal writing.
Major General William J. Walker, USA (Ret.)
Major General William J. Walker is the Chief Security Officer for Allied Universal®, a global security services leader with 800,000 employees across ninety countries. He previously served as the 38th Sergeant at Arms of the U.S. House of Representatives and as Commanding General of the District of Columbia National Guard, the only National Guard force that reports directly to the President. Over a 39-year military career, MG Walker led Army and Air Force units, executed major security operations across Washington, D.C., and managed defense partnerships with Burkina Faso and Jamaica. He also completed a distinguished 30-year career with the Drug Enforcement Administration, serving in senior intelligence, diplomatic, and operational roles. MG Walker holds advanced degrees from the University of Illinois Chicago, Chicago State University, National Intelligence University, and American University, and is a fellow of MIT’s Seminar XXI and the National Academy of Public Administration.
