In September Dante Disparte, ASP BCAS Chairperson, and Daniel Wagner, Managing Director of Risk Solutions for Risk Cooperative and previously featured guest on ASP’s weekly podcast, were featured in the Harvard Business Review.

In their article titled “Do You Know What Your Company’s Data Is Worth?” Disparte and Wagner confront the challenges of measuring enterprise value in the age of big data.  Including the value of a firm’s data in its overall enterprise value is a new and evolving practice, and is prompted by the high costs of protecting data from cyber-attacks.

But how should firms assess the large quantities of data they hold while measuring their company’s value? According to Disparte and Wagner, the first steps need to be defining the value of the data itself, creating standards that more firms can follow, and by assessing the future growth in the value of currently held data in current assessments.
