Expertise: Military Readiness, National Security, Physical Activity, and Recruiting
The Honorable Rob Wilkins, a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant, has dedicated his life to promoting military fitness and overall wellness. His impressive career spans decades of service, both in uniform and as a civilian advocate for health initiatives.
During his 26-year Air Force career from 1983 to 2009, Wilkins earned numerous accolades, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. His commitment to service didn’t end with retirement. On February 13, 2025, he received the prestigious Air Force Recruiting Service Salutes (AFRS) Award, the highest recognition from AFRS.
Wilkins’ passion for fitness led him to work closely with bodybuilding legends Joe and Ben Weider for nearly two decades as the military liaison to the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness. This experience fueled his mission to promote physical activity for military readiness and national security.
His advocacy reached new heights when he was appointed to the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition by both Presidents Trump and Biden. As the nation’s first National Fitness Foundation Ambassador, Wilkins has been instrumental in driving health and wellness initiatives across the country. He also serves as the Military Executive Advisor, San Antonio Mayor’s Fitness Council.
One of Wilkins’ proudest achievements is co-founding “Fit to Serve,” the world’s largest fitness column for military personnel and first responders. He’s also credited with saving three Airmen’s lives through health screenings, underscoring the real-world impact of his work.
Wilkins’ commitment to community service shines through his creation of the Loudoun County Week of Play. What started as a single day of activity has grown into a week-long celebration of fitness and health, scheduled for May 5-9, 2025, engaging students across all schools in Loudoun County, VA.
His efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. Wilkins has received numerous honors, including the Humana Military “Boots on the Ground Award” in 2023 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mayor of Woodbridge, NJ, in 2023 for his service to the community and nation.
As a 6th generation military veteran with ancestors serving as far back as the American Revolutionary War, Wilkins embodies a legacy of service. Today, he continues to inspire as a guest lecturer at Harvard Extension School and through his active involvement in various veteran organizations.
Rob’s life is a testament to the power of dedication, service, and the transformative impact of fitness. His ongoing efforts continue to shape the health and wellness landscape for military personnel, veterans, and civilians alike.
