Sierra Hicks is a graduate student in the International Affairs: Global Security program at American University’s School of International Service (SIS). She is a native of Northern New York and graduated with a BA in International Studies from American University in December 2016.

This past summer Sierra attended the Baku Summer Energy School at ADA University in Azerbaijan, where she spent two weeks discussing the geopolitics and economics of oil and gas. Her past research has focused on Russia in the Arctic, climate change and conflict, and energy security in the Caucasus region.
