Katherine A. Brown is the President and CEO of Global Ties U.S., the national leader in connecting people in the U.S. and their communities with the world through international exchange and public diplomacy programs. Katherine and her team support 80+ member organizations nationwide to advance U.S. strategic priorities abroad and boost prosperity at home by harnessing the diplomatic potential of our country’s greatest asset: our people.

Before joining Global Ties U.S. in 2018, Katherine served in various government roles focused on media and public diplomacy. She began her career at the National Security Council at the White House before serving as a Public Diplomacy Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, as a Professional Staff Member at the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the U.S. House of Representatives, and as the Executive Director of the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy at the U.S. Department of State. She also previously worked at The Asia Foundation, Bloomberg Opinion, and Meta.

Katherine is a member of the University of Southern California’s Center on Public Diplomacy Advisory Board and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Georgetown University’s Center for Security Studies. Her book, “Your Country, Our War: The Press and Diplomacy in Afghanistan,” was published by Oxford University Press in 2019. She received the Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellowship and is a former French-American Foundation Young Leader.

Katherine holds a B.A. in International Affairs from The George Washington University and a Ph.D. in Communications from Columbia University.
