Background: Brendan Connell is a graduate student at American University’s School of International Service (SIS) studying Global Governance, Politics, and Security. He graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science from Binghamton University. His research revolves around issues in international political economy and trade, specifically studying instances of how the movement of commodities and capital across borders can create sources of intra- and interstate conflict. He is currently working on a research paper that analyzes what effects oil dependency may have on the cohesion of governments and political stability within states.
