Adam Despang is the Climate Security Outreach Manager at the American Security Project.

Adam, a former Army Field Artillery Officer, earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Psychology from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY.

While at UF he interned at the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Energy Resources and Congresswoman Kathy Castor’s D.C. office. Adam also worked with the American Red Cross on energy management and greenhouse gas inventories as a 2020 Environmental Defense Fund Corps Fellow.

Since Hurricane Harvey hit Texas in 2017, he has been a volunteer with Team Rubicon, a disaster response non-profit, where he has assisted communities affected by natural disasters. These deployments took him to places like Beaumont TX after Hurricane Harvey; Panama City Beach after Hurricane Michael; Nooksack and Suma Washington; and Abaco, Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian.

Adam was raised in Lake City, FL and now resides in Gainesville, FL.
