Expertise: International Security, U.S. Counterterrorism Policy, Middle East Politics

A recent graduate from the University of Amsterdam with a MSc. in International Relations, Giancarlo Lima comes to ASP with a focus on international security and the Middle East. His Master’s thesis examined the juridical structure of U.S. counterterrorism policy in Yemen under the Obama administration. From 2011-2012 Giancarlo lived in post-revolution Egypt where he worked at a NGO focusing on English language education. During his time in Egypt Giancarlo witnessed the country’s political transition including the parliamentary and presidential elections. Among his interests are U.S. counterterrorism policy, political violence, and Egyptian politics. Outside of politics, Giancarlo is an avid football watcher, both of the American and European variety.
