Sharon Yang

Sharon Yang most recently served as the Campaign and Development Officer for the Aspen Institute’s Scholars & Scholarships Campaign and their Society of Fellows. She was responsible for donor engagement, cultivation, and stewardship for the campaign, Mid-Atlantic Society of Fellows members, and Vanguard, the young donor program.

Prior to joining the Aspen Institute, Sharon was director of Gen44, a national fundraising program created to cultivate and empower the next generation of donors and leaders in the Democratic Party. In this role, she directed fundraising on behalf of President Obama’s Re-election Campaign, Democratic National Committee, and the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Prior to her work on the 2012 Presidential Campaign, Sharon was the National Candidate Finance Director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and also served on Secretary Clinton’s 2008 Presidential Campaign as a member of the Mid-Atlantic finance team.

Sharon also serves on the Board of Directors of Future Civic Leaders, a nonprofit created to engage underserved communities in the political process. Sharon is also involved with Project Soar, a Marrakech-based nonprofit organization providing young girls the opportunity to soar a little higher through art, design and renovation projects, as well as through sports and health education. 

 

Sharon began her career in Washington, D.C. working Grunwald Communications, a political and media consulting firm. Originally from San Diego, California, Sharon is a former competitive figure skater and graduate of Loyola Marymount University’s School of Communications and Fine Arts.
