Expertise: Climate change – as it relates to science, risk, preparedness, adaptation, resilience, and national security; sustainable and resilient development; inter-agency coordination; public private partnerships

Emily Wasley has over 16 years of experience in the climate change, sustainability, adaptation, and resilience fields helping government entities, water utilities, and Fortune 50 to 500 corporations institutionalize climate considerations into existing risk management, business continuity, and sustainability efforts. She lead WSP’s corporate climate risk, adaptation, and resilience domain supporting clients in identifying, assessing, and managing climate-related risks and opportunities the various risks and opportunities in alignment with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations.

Emily previously served as a Senior Climate Risk and Resilience Specialist with The Cadmus Group, Inc. In this capacity, she planned and led projects to prepare for and respond to the impacts of global change for federal, regional, state, and local projects and programs. This involved providing expertise on issues such as adaptation, resilience, risk reduction under various future scenarios affected by global climate change, conducting technical and policy analyses, and preparing high-level briefings and reports. She led integrated project teams consisting of a range of technical and policy experts.

Prior to joining The Cadmus Group, Inc. Emily held the following positions:

* Program Manager for Inform Decisions and Adaptation Science with the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) supporting the U.S. Global Change Research Program’s (USGCRP) National Coordination Office where she led the coordination between the science and mission agencies to inform interagency adaptation and resilience research, planning, and implementation (2011 – 2015);

* Adjunct Professor for a graduate level seminar course on urban sustainability and resilience at The George Washington University – this was done while she was with USGCRP (2014);

* Associate with Booz Allen Hamilton working on environmental policy and compliance while also exploring the nexus of climate change and national security (2007 – 2011);

* Urban Land Use and Transportation Planner for ATCS, P.L.C., managing projects which looked at the interface between land use and transportation (2006 – 2007); and

* Environmental Scientist with ECC, Inc. conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (2005 – 2006).

Emily is certified as a Change Management Advanced Practitioner (CMAP) from Georgetown University and Decision Making for Climate Change professional from the University of Washington. She holds a Master of Art in Environmental and Natural Resources Policy from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Environmental Studies from Hamilton College. Originally from London, England, Emily currently lives in Arlington, VA.
