 is the founder and Managing Director of Reneo Consulting LLC, a subsidiary of his law firm, Gilbert LLP. Scott brings to both Reneo and Gilbert more than 35 years of high-profile experience using innovative strategies to help clients solve potentially catastrophic problems. In his legal practice at Gilbert, Scott is at the forefront of cutting edge initiatives, settlement and litigation involving insurance, products liability, commercial torts and bankruptcy. He is an internationally recognized innovator in the field of strategic alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

In his work with Reneo Consulting, Scott uses his formidable negotiating skills and strategic insights to provide unique solutions for controversial issues in both the international public and private sectors. Scott’s major focus at Reneo Consulting is strategic analysis, crisis management, legislative and lobbying services, and government related consulting.

Through Reneo, Scott worked with the United States and Cuban governments in the negotiation of Alan Gross’ release from a Cuban prison, which facilitated the first major change in United States policy toward Cuba in more than 50 years. Scott has been described by high-ranking State Department officials as “Perhaps the best ‘civilian’ expert on the Cuban government.” Most recently, Scott was instrumental in securing the safe return of Amir Hekmati, a former U.S. Marine held in Iran, also on a pro bono basis.
