“Are We Winning?” – Interim Report Released
Today, the American Security Project released an interim update as part of its ongoing “Are We Winning?” study, which found several discouraging trends, including an increase in worldwide Islamic violence and a dampening of the so-called “Obama Effect” in the Muslim world, among other issues.
Click here to listen to audio of a conference call held with ASP Chairman and former Senator Gary Hart and ASP Senior Fellow Dr. Bernard I. Finel, one of the report’s authors.
From ASP’s press release:
The mid-year report specifically found that terror attacks by Islamist extremists accelerated dramatically in 2008 with the most significant increases in Islamist violence occurring in Pakistan, Somalia, Russia, and the Philippines…
In Pakistan and Afghanistan, territory controlled by the Afghan and Pakistani Taliban has also increased, and by some estimates, in Afghanistan, the Taliban now has a persistent presence in roughly 75% percent of the country, up from 50% last year…In spite of initial optimism in the Muslim world following the election of President Obama, there is no evidence to suggest that the United States has overcome the damage done to its standing by several unpopular Bush Administration policies, including the war in Iraq and treatment of detainees…Furthermore, approval of al Qaeda has increased in Egypt and approval of the United States has decreased in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The “Are We Winning?” study began in 2007 as a comprehensive way to measure how America is performing in the so-called “War on Terror.” Reports are released every fall gauging ten criteria that American Security Project experts have identified to measure progress in the conflict. This in an interim paper in that ongoing study; a full report will be released in the fall.

Obama bombed Pakistan and killed civilians; women and children. When Bush did something like this, the liberal left called him a murderer.
So, were is the liberal left now? Why aren’t they calling Obama a murderer? Were are the marching anti-war protesters?
Shouln’t the same crime be called the same thing, even if the president happens to be a Democrat?
