ASP Senior Fellow Bernard I. Finel Featured in Armed Forces Journal
This month’s issue of Armed Forces Journal features an article by American Security Project Senior Fellow Bernard I. Finel entitled “A Security Strategy We Can Afford.” Read the full article here.
In the piece, Dr. Finel covers many of the issues that The American Security Project has been confronting in regard to defense alternatives and improving America’s military for the 21st Century. He lays out the problems with the United States’ current military and national security budgeting policies, and then outlines the proposals that have been put forward by the America Security Project to improve them and how they can be implemented realistically.
From the article:
With a new administration in office, now is the time to tackle defense reform in a systematic manner. The U.S. needs a serious strategic planning effort that will encompass a profound reassessment of the role of the American military in the world with a fundamental effort to re-engineer processes within the Defense Department to make change possible.
By outlining a strategic vision for the future, The American Security Project is increasingly becoming a much-needed voice in the debate for a new military budgeting process. Read the article and post your thoughts in the comment section below.
