Senator John Kerry Visits Gaza

Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and ASP Board Member Senator John Kerry visited Gaza to view the destruction caused by the fighting and view the needs of the area.  According to the New York Times, “Mr. Kerry, who is on a tour of the region, entered Gaza after seeing the remains of Palestinian rockets fired at the Israeli city of Sderot. He was accompanied in Sderot by Israel’s foreign minister, Tzipi Livni.”

While Senator Kerry did not meet with Hamas leaders, Ahmed Youssef, deputy foreign minister in the Hamas government, stated “This is a very good step reflecting the seriousness of this administration to follow up and get information about what is happening on the ground.”
