Jim Ludes

Jim Ludes is the Executive Director of the American Security Project. He was a Legislative Assistant for defense and foreign policy for U.S. Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) from 2002-2006 and Editor-in-Chief of National Security Studies Quarterly from 1995-2002. Jim has also co-edited two books, Attacking Terrorism and Twenty-First Century Weapons Proliferation.

Evelyn N. Farkas

Evelyn Farkas  is a  senior fellow at the American Security Project, and former Executive Director of the congressionally-mandated Commission on the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction Prevention and Terrorism. From April 2001 to April 2008, she served as a Professional Staff Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Her issue areas included foreign and defense policy in Asia Pacific, Western Hemisphere, Special Operations Command (policy and budget oversight), foreign military assistance, peace and stability operations, the military effort to combat terrorism, counternarcotics programs, homeland defense, and export control policy. Her publications include journal articles and opinion pieces in The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and Boston Globe on issues including Balkan peace operations and military readiness. She is also the author of Fractured States and U.S. Foreign Policy: Iraq, Ethiopia, and Bosnia in the 1990s (Palgrave/St. Martin’s Press, 2003 and 2008).

Bernard I. Finel

Bernard Finel is a senior fellow at the American Security Project where he has built a reputation as a top counter-terrorism analyst. Bernard has been quoted widely by U.S. and Canadian media on terrorism-related issues and he blogs regularly at BernardFinel.com. He was Associate Professor of Military Strategy and Operations at the U.S. National War College from 2004-2006. Prior to that, Bernard was on the faculty of the Security Studies Program (SSP) at Georgetown University and served as Executive Director of the SSP and the Center for Peace and Security Studies from 2002-2004 and Associate Director of the SSP from 1997-2001. He is co-editor and co-author of Power and Conflict in the Age of Transparency and Ultimate Security: Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Christine Bartolf

Christine Bartolf is a research analyst at American Security Project.  Christine has a Masters in Security Studies from Georgetown University and a BS in International Affairs and German from Georgia Institute of Technology. Before coming to ASP, Christine worked on migration and security issues, nonproliferation, and military readiness.

Jessica Berlin

Jessica Berlin is a Research Associate at the American Security Project. She holds a BA in International Relations from Tufts University. Prior to joining ASP, Jessica worked in the international development sector in Rwanda. She has conducted research in China, India, DR Congo, Rwanda and parts of the Middle East, focusing on international energy security, Sino-African relations and armed groups in Central Africa and South/Central Asia.
