Dr. Brainard is Vice President and Director of the Global Economy Development Center and holds the Bernard L. Schwartz Chair in International Economics at the Brookings Institution. She served as Deputy National Economic Advisor and Deputy Assistant to the President for International Economics in the Clinton Administration during which time she acted as the Personal Representative (Sherpa) of the President to the G7/8. She has also been an Associate Professor of Applied Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management (1990-1995); and worked as a Management Consultant for McKinsey and Co. (1982-1985).
