This week, ASP congratulates Board Member Nelson Cunningham on his election as the new President of the American Security Project. Serving as an ASP Board Member since the founding of the company, Mr. Cunningham stated:

I have believed in the mission of ASP since then-Senator Kerry asked me to be a founding board member in 2006.  The opportunity to work with a diverse board of Republicans, Democrats, retired admirals and generals, and distinguished businesspeople is in my experience unique in Washington.  The staff under General Cheney’s leadership produces respected work of enduring value.  I will be proud to help the board and staff spread the word that American national security depends on much more than excellence in arms – it depends on a strong economy, strong alliances, and leadership in the fight for global challenges such as terrorism and climate change.
