Melba Acosta-Febo

 

Melba Acosta-Febo is a member of Governor Alejandro García-Padilla’s economic development team. She is the President of the Government Development Bank of Puerto Rico (“GDB”) and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico’s Chief Financial Officer.

Ms. Acosta has vast experience in both the public and private sector. Prior to her appointment as President of GDB, Ms. Acosta served as Secretary of the Department of the Treasury of Puerto Rico (2013-2014). Ms. Acosta also served as Executive Director of the Office of Management and Budget and Chief Information Officer under the Administration of Governor Calderón (2001-2004) and as the Chief of Staff for the Mayor of San Juan (1997-2000). During her time in the private sector Ms. Acosta held various titles at R&G Financial Corporation (2004-2010) including: Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, Executive Vice President, Corporate Risk Manager, and Interim CFO. She also practiced law at the law firm McConnell Váldes LLC (1994-1997 & 2010-2012) and worked at Price Waterhouse (1988-1990).

Ms. Acosta received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus (Magna Cum Laude), a Master in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School (Eli Lilly Scholar), and a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico (Magna Cum Laude).
