CEO of ASP BGen. Stephen Cheney was quoted on the U.S.’s position in the Arctic in Scott Waldman’s November 3 article “High Stakes for the Arctic Await Trump or Clinton” on E&E News.

BGen. Cheney is quoted enforcing Waldman’s point that the U.S. needs to pay more attention to the Arctic. If the U.S. does not increase its focus on the Arctic BGen. Cheney says, “You’re just ceding control, and you let it go, and sooner or later it becomes more of a concern. We’re already way behind, so you just forget about it until you have a crisis.” Of particular note are the vast hydrocarbon reserves in the Arctic. If the U.S. does not consider exploiting those resources, another more established country will.
